Split a PDF — extract pages or break it into many
Pull specific pages out, break the file into individual pages, or cut it into ranges — all bundled up as a ZIP when there's more than one output.

How to split a PDF online for free
The PDF splitter has three modes so you can do whichever kind of split you actually need. After dropping your file in, pick Extract selected pages to click thumbnails and pull out only the pages you want as a single new PDF. Pick Split every page (ZIP) to break the whole document into one PDF per page, packaged in a single ZIP download. Pick Split by ranges to type ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10 and get one PDF per range, again bundled in a ZIP. All three modes copy pages byte-for-byte from the source — no re-encoding, no quality loss, no flattened form fields.
Which split mode should I use?
Extract selected pages is the right choice when you need one new PDF that contains only specific pages from the source — for example, pulling pages 12–15 out of a 60-page report to send to a colleague. Split every page is the right choice when you want one file per page, perhaps to share a long document as individual sheets or to attach each page separately to a record-keeping system. Split by ranges is the right choice when the split falls along natural boundaries — chapters of a book, sections of a contract, monthly statements in a yearly packet. The range syntax accepts single pages (5), open-ended ranges (1-3), and any combination of both separated by commas.
What about large or image-heavy PDFs?
Large documents split fine — the splitter reads the file once into memory, then copies each requested page into a fresh PDF. For very long documents the page-grid view can take a moment to render thumbnails (you will see the progress bar fill). For scanned PDFs that are really just stacks of page-images, every page is preserved at its original resolution in the output. If you intend to email the split files, run them through the compressor afterwards to shrink them under attachment size limits.
Why split in the browser instead of an upload-based tool?
Most online PDF splitters work by uploading your file to a remote server, processing it, and sending the result back. That is fine for a non-sensitive document but the wrong choice for anything private — contracts, medical records, tax forms, financial statements, HR paperwork. RasonaX PDF Toolkit runs entirely in your browser tab. The file is read into your device's memory, processed locally by the pdf-lib library, and the result is saved straight to your downloads. Nothing is transmitted to any server at any point.
Tips for clean splits
If you only need a handful of pages from a long document, use Extract rather than Range — clicking thumbnails is faster and less error-prone than typing page numbers for a large document. If your split will produce more than one file, the result is bundled in a ZIP, which most operating systems open natively. If a source PDF is encrypted with a password you know, unlock it in another tool first; RasonaX PDF Toolkit skips encrypted files rather than guessing passwords. If pages look upside-down or sideways after splitting, run them through the rotate tool next.
Pair the splitter with the rest of RasonaX PDF Toolkit
Splitting often pairs with merging — pull pages out of several documents and stitch them together into a single new file. After a split, you may also want to compress the resulting files to fit email limits, pull out embedded images from one of the pages, or convert the text into an editable Word document. All eight RasonaX PDF Toolkit tools share the same in-browser pipeline, so you can move between them without re-uploading anything. For marking up a draft, edit a PDF in place before sending it on.
Built so your files never have to leave your computer.
Processed on-device
Every tool runs with JavaScript inside this browser tab. Your PDF is read into your device's memory here — it's never transmitted to a server.
Fast, no queue
No waiting for an upload or a server job. Files as large as your device's memory can handle are processed right away.
No account needed
Open a tool and use it. There's nothing to sign up for and no watermark added to your files.
Free, with reasonable limits
All eight tools are free to use. Very large files depend on your device's memory and browser — see the FAQ for details.
